Hafod Estate - Access Guidelines

The Hafod Partnership believes that Hafod is a very special place, and that the public should be enabled to enjoy and understand its unique landscape;

And that All those who use Hafod, whether as a place of work, a home, or for recreation, have a responsibility to respect the site, its animals and plants, and other visitors and residents.

To ensure that the Hafod landscape is safeguarded and sustained for generations to come, we would ask visitors to follow these simple guidelines:

1. Explore on foot. The historic landscape was designed to be experienced by walkers, and this remains the most enjoyable and least intrusive way to see it.

2. Take note of information provided on distances and grading of walks; the longer, more rugged walks are not suitable for everyone.

3. Stay on designated paths: respect the privacy of residents, and be aware of forestry operations and estate traffic.

4. Do not light fires or barbecues. Camping is not allowed.

5. Cycle only on the forest roads. Cycles may be left at the Estate Office by those arriving by bike and wishing to walk at Hafod.

6. Obtain permits for horse-riding (on forest roads only) from the Estate office.

7. Leave vehicles in the periphery car parks. Limited parking for the less able will be made available at the Estate Office, but casual parking elsewhere in the estate is not permitted.

8. Do not bring off-road vehicles or motorbikes into the Hafod estate; their use in this setting is damaging and unauthorised, and breaches will be treated very seriously.

For the benefit of everyone at Hafod, the managers will do their best to ensure that these guidelines are complied with, that all footpaths - whether public or permissive - are signed and kept free of obstructions, and that up-to-date information on access is provided to visitors.
